| About Us "This isn't like any job I've ever had. It's too much fun! Everything I sell in the store is something I like!"
| John DeTore owns BoyKid Hobbies, opened in September 2004 in downtown Claremont, NH. He sells products for hobbyists and is a member of Claremont Business Ventures, a Business Group for MicroCredit-NH.
A sampling of the store's inventory includes model kits for cars, trucks, planes, trains, helicopters and ships. You'll also find modeling supplies, railroad building kits, parts and supplies, and remote control slot cars. |
He also sells dollhouses and "some girly stuff". Besides this you can also find a number of magazines devoted to the above stated hobbies and trades.
He's also been known to take special orders now and again, so if you don't find what you want in the store, he may still be able to get what you're looking for.
As of November 2009 we moved to a new bigger & better store in the Market Basket Plaza! Come see us!

| Business Community Member
In addition to his membership in MicroCredit-NH, John has emberged as a champion for Claremont's storefront business owners. Since opening BoyKid Hobbies, he has organized the "Downtown Business Group", and serves as Chair. The group of 15 merchants meets regularly to trade ideas, and create marketing strategies and plan events to bring more foot traffic downtown.
Over the past year, the Downtown Business Group has sponsored community events such as the Fall Festival/Chili Cook-off and 21C after school program events that were formerly held in city parks and schools, but enjoyed a large turnout downtown.
John has expansion plans for BoyKid Hobbies. He hopes to open a second store in the Keene area, and eventually others in New England and Florida. Hobbyists will surely benefit from John's ultimate goal of "10 stores in 10 years!"
